Blaxtair Origin® saves lives! The intelligent onboard camera helps prevent accidents between people and moving equipment. Blaxtair Origin® uses artificial intelligence to distinguish a person from an obstacle in real time, alerting the driver to the danger without unnecessary alarms.
Blaxtair Origin® is the only AI camera capable of accurately detecting and locating a person in real time, in any position, whether standing or crouching, and in all demanding work environments. The system not only alerts drivers to danger without unnecessary alarms but also helps health and safety managers and site supervisors monitor and reduce accident risks. There is no equivalent on the market that is as compact, robust, connected, scalable, and easy to install, not to mention its water and dust resistance.

This pedestrian detection system continuously scans the blind spots and obscured areas around the vehicle. Blaxtair Origin® features the most advanced onboard Artificial Intelligence for detecting a person in danger, thanks to its ultra-powerful algorithms and extensive, unique learning database. The system emits an audible and visual alarm to alert the driver of imminent danger. A control screen in the cabin allows them to immediately assess the criticality of the situation.

Blaxtair Origin® adapts to all brands and types of industrial or construction machinery: from forklifts to telehandlers, loaders, and excavators. The detection zone is adjustable in length and width according to the type of machine and the context of use. The system is also future-proof, thanks to online maintenance and remote software updates.

What is a Blaxtair AI pedestrian detection camera and how does it work?
The Blaxtair system is an onboard camera equipped with artificial intelligence that detects and locates pedestrians in real time around heavy machinery. It uses 3D vision technology to alert the operator in less than 300 milliseconds (faster than the blink of an eye!).
The Blaxtair camera can detect a pedestrian even when crouched or only partially visible (for example, just a leg). Both the operator and the pedestrian receive visual and audible alerts only when a worker enters the preconfigured and customizable safety zone.
What is the difference between Blaxtair and a standard backup camera system?
A backup camera only displays an image — that’s all. Blaxtair understands what it sees. Thanks to its embedded artificial intelligence, it analyzes each image in real time, identifies people (standing, crouching, or partially visible), evaluates the level of risk, and triggers a targeted alert. It can also record detection events and transmit data to a safety management dashboard through the optional Blaxtair Connect module.
Can Blaxtair operate in harsh mining and industrial environments?
Yes. Blaxtair technologies are specifically designed for the toughest environments: intense vibrations, impacts, dust, mud, and extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. The camera is IP69K certified, meaning it withstands high-pressure water jets and immersion. That is why it is widely used in mines, quarries, recycling facilities, and municipal operations around the world.
Do pedestrians need to wear badges or tags for the system to work?
No. This is one of Blaxtair’s greatest advantages: no wearable equipment is required for workers. Detection is fully visual and autonomous. This greatly simplifies deployment on a job site while eliminating the costly purchase and management of tags.
What types of machines can Blaxtair cameras be installed on?
Blaxtair 5 is compatible with all types and brands of heavy equipment, including forklifts, wheel loaders, excavators, dump trucks, telehandlers, graders, refuse trucks, and municipal vehicles. Detection zones can be adjusted in both length and width depending on the machine type and operating environment.
How long does it take to install a Blaxtair system on a vehicle?
The installation process is designed to be quick. In most cases, a certified technician such as those from RMT Equipment can complete the installation and operator training within one day per machine. Some models, such as the Blaxtair 5 ECO, can even be installed directly by the customer at a rate of up to two systems per technician per day.
What is Blaxtair Connect and what is it used for?
Blaxtair Connect is the optional cloud-based IoT module for the system. It allows health and safety managers to monitor real-time detection data across an entire fleet: which machines present the highest risk, where and when incidents occur most frequently, and how effective preventive measures are over time.
It is a powerful tool for health and safety teams looking to move from a reactive to a proactive safety approach.
Does Blaxtair help companies comply with workplace health and safety regulations in Quebec?
Yes. Quebec’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (LSST) requires employers to take the necessary measures to protect workers from hazards associated with moving machinery. An AI detection system like Blaxtair represents a recognized and documented technical prevention measure. In addition, event data recorded through Blaxtair Connect can serve as supporting evidence during compliance audits or accident investigations.
What makes Blaxtair different from other proximity detection systems?
Most proximity detection systems rely on ultrasonic technology. These systems detect the presence of an object without knowing whether it is a person, a pole, or another vehicle. They are also heavily affected by environmental conditions such as snow, mud, and ice, often resulting in false detections or system failure when obstructed.
Thanks to its AI technology, Blaxtair continues to operate reliably in extreme conditions, even with a dirty lens.
Is RMT Equipment a certified Blaxtair distributor in Quebec?
Yes. RMT is the exclusive Canadian distributor of Blaxtair solutions. RMT maintains inventory for all models and operates a certified technical service center capable of repairing both older-generation Blaxtair products (Blaxtair 3, MR90, MR180) and new-generation systems (Origin, MR120, BXT5 ECO, BXT5 PRO).
